For example, the designer chooses the theme of classic florals. For this, several drawings of selected flowers are designed. The designer then defines matching colors and shapes. The exclusive fabrics are finally woven, embroidered and printed. Since this process is quite complex and expensive, companies have to calculate in advance exactly how much of the fabrics should be produced. The meter requirement is estimated based on an analysis of potential customer demand. Obviously the estimated amount of high-quality fabric often can't be calculated exactly and the number of fabrics produced differs from the actual number of meters needed. Therefor companies end up with surpluses or overproduction of designer fabrics that are no longer used by the fashion house.

These fabrics are then sold on to large fabric retailers. The retailers can either place the designer fabrics in so-called "stock sales" or sell them to selected textile retail stores. In this way,  the special design fabrics also become available to the end consumer at an affordable price.

Designer fabrics can be made out of different fabric material and weave and in many different styles. Fabric types vary from doubleface,  twill,  lace, poplin, jersey and jacquard weaves. The materials could be anything from viscose, linen or cotton fabric, so light fabrics to rather heavy fabrics like wool. These exclusive designer fabrics - sometimes plain, in gray, dark blue, or black as well as in trendy colors, with stripes and patterns, sometimes colorful in yellow, red or other colors - are always special and real eye-catchers. Furthermore a designer fabric is usually a really durable fabric as well.

Exclusive yard goods

Exclusive fabrics - what's actually meant by this? Our high-quality fabrics have been seen at international fabric fairs in Milan, London or even Paris before being purchased by us. So these are really exclusive fabrics, which you then have the opportunity to purchase. You can use them fro many different projects like sewing a blouse, a dress, evening wear, a new coat, etc. Obviously you could also use them as patchwork fabric or decor fabric.

(Exclusive fabrics are called yard goods when they are traded by the length or running meter. They could also be called cut or long fabric. When cutting designer fabrics from a roll or cardboard, they are measured by length and not by width).

However, not every designer fabric must have been shown on one of the catwalks of the fashion world to be classified as an exclusive fabric. Smaller and often expensive labels also have high-quality fabrics made for individual products. Obviously overproduction can also happen in those labels. The overproduced fabrics are then also available to the end customer as exclusive designer fabrics via specialized fabric retailers.

Buy and sew high quality designer fabrics

As mentioned earlier, our designer fabrics are overhangs with a limited number of meters.  Therefor it is not uncommon for the luxury fabric to sell out quite quickly. Reorders are usually not possible. This is why it is recommended to calculate your required consumption of your perfect fabric as accurately as possible. If in doubt, rather take a little more designer fabric than too little to avoid any problems in your sewing process. Pay attention to the print and weave pattern and calculate your needed amount according to your sewing pattern.  We will then deliver your designer fabric as quickly as possible so you can start sewing.

The use of designer fabrics is unlimited. Depending on the weave and raw material, designer fabrics can be used for finely crafted clothing, but just as well as interior material, like curtain fabric or upholstery fabric and drapery fabric.

You can also request fabric samples before buying it. If you want to buy a really exclusive designer fabric, you naturally have the right to inform yourself about it in advance.

Italian designer fabrics - one of our main focuses

We put our focus on a high quality and designer fabric selection from Italy. They have a wide variety of colors, extraordinary weaves and designs. Our extensive assortment of Italian designer fabrics changes several times a year and always includes new high-quality and unusual fabrics. Exclusive Italian designer fabrics will continue to be an important focus of our selection, because italian designers and weavers have a very good reputation for a reason. However, we are of course also happy to include high-quality fabrics from other regions. For example, we carry exclusive fabrics such as cotton from Japan or the United States.

Our favorite designers

Maybe you are interested in our favorite designers and we must say it is really difficult for us to answer this question. Because there are so many we love. But after some consideration we finally decided on the following: Prada, Max Mara and Gucci .

But unfortunately the naming does not allow any conclusions, whether we have any fabrics from one of those designers in our assortment at the moment or not.

Designer Fabrics

Designer fabrics are very high quality fabrics, mostly produced in limited edition. Usually they're produced for a single collection of the respective designer only. For each season and collection, one or more themes are defined, to which all designs and fabrics of a design team are aligned.
